Everyone has a first day of sailing, and many of us are immediately hooked. Every year experienced sailors organize a mentoring program that focuses, based on interest, on anything from basic skills and advanced racing tactics. Year End Report

May 15 and May 22nd
76 members attended the mandatory sailfleet meeting where sailfleet certification process and the use agreement was reviewed.
June 25th
18 children attended the boat safety and ice cream social class where Bob Russell was the instructor.

June 28th
Professional sailor/instructor/author Dave Perry’s day and night race clinic that attracted 26 people.

June 4, 11, 18, 25, and July 2nd
Rolled out the first US Sailing certification program for light 5-12mph and heavy 13-21mph air certification using GCS US Sailing instructors.
There were 5 GCS sailfleet certification test classes that attracted at least 32 members. My records indicate that 20 reported to have passed that attended.
31 members are light air certified 5-12mph
31 members are heavy air certified 13-21mph
There were at least 4 Sat. sailfleet mentor classes where members Jon Asch, Pat Quis, and Tom Hagan have been mentor that attracted at least 10 members to the class.
Sailfleet utilization for the year was 72% it was 66% in 2010.

The Mercury fleet was hauled and derigged on Sat. October 1th
The Ideal 18 fleet was hauled and derigged on Sat. October 22rd
Women’s Sailing Update (By Beth Eaton)
Had a successful and enjoyable year. Participated in Queens Cup (LIS Woman's Champ.), Pequot Regatta, Riverside Invitational, and the Gillespie Cup at Norwalk Yacht Club.
