OGYC Sail Fleet Program Overview
2015 Season

Club members over the age of 18 in good standing can captain boats in the Ideal 18 and Mercury sail fleet once you fulfill the following requirements:

1) Attend the Mandatory Sailors Meeting. This is required each season. Typically this is offered 2 times per season in May or separately arranged with the Education Director on case-by-case basis for members coming into the club after that date.

2) Read, and sign the copy of the Sail Fleet Use Agreement. This is required each season. This can now be done on-line by registering for the Sail Fleet Use Agreement. “Registering” means that you agree to all terms and conditions of the agreement. Your electronic registration will act as your electronic signature that you have read and signed the Agreement. A copy of the agreement registration is on the club calendar from May 6 to June 30th, 2015. In the event that you do not have access to do event registration on line please read, sign, and submit a copy of the Sail Fleet Use Agreement to Lou Casolo, Education Director. This Agreement is located at OGYC.org under the Sailing page, tab Fleet Use Agreement.

 3) Obtain your CT Safe Boating Card. There are many ways to do this as outlined on the Learn to Sail web page. This is required once.

4) Take a Low Tide Tour. This is only required once and members are welcome to repeat each year if they would like a refresher.

5) Become certified to sail in light and/or heavy air as described in the Sail Fleet Agreement. This US Sailing Association Small Boat Certification is a TEST of your skills and is not instructional.

6) Any Corinthian or Life member using the sail fleet must have launch service.  They may not come as a guest of another member.

7) Must volunteer at a Sail Fleet work party at least once during the season.
